I talked to Reuben yesterday and today for a little while. This is probably the most contact we have had in the last 3 months. He had told me two weeks ago that he would probably be back end of Sept at the latest, but now he is saying that it is only a slight chance that he will come back that soon. If they don't catch their quota then they could be gone as long as Nov. 15th. Meaning I am only at the halfway point just now....this is really depressing since I thought the end was in sight. It's hard because really nobody knows anything...nothing is concrete except Nov. 15th, which quite frankly is just too long. So please pray that they fill their quota sooner rather than later! Reuben said his body is doing ok with all the sleep deprivation and intense work. He says that you would be surprised at what you are able to do if you just keep going. They work 30-50 hrs at a time with 1-2 hrs of sleep in between 10 days in a row. He said he calculated it out and he lifts and moves about 500,000 lbs every 10 days. Raeya and I are here until Tuesday and then we go back to Washington. We are staying with Reuben's aunt whose husband passed away about a month ago. We will stay there until the first week of Oct for the memorial service and if Reuben is still gone then I'm thinking we will come back to Tucson. If he is back then we might spend sometime visiting family and then come back. My brother in law gave me this prayer which really applies to Reuben's situation. Let us pray to the Lord. Oh Master, Lord Jesus Christ our God, who didst walk upon the waters as upon dry land, and didst deign to have they holy disciples and apostles as thy own voyagers in the ship; and didst rebuke the stormy wind, and command the waves of the sea to be still: be please now also, we humbly pray thee oh Savior to sail with this thy servant (Reuben) in his ship, allaying every unfavorable wind and tempest: and raise up special and timely winds for successful voyage, being thyself ever unto him a pilot and a Saving; an untempestuous and tranquil haven unto him and his ship. And as thou didst save Peter from drowning . So also Sovereign Wise, deliver thou this thy servant (Reuben) from all assults of enemies both visible and invisible and from calamity, and distress, and fear, by thy right hand omnipotent: and gracious vouchsafe that he may return to his home in peace, health and happiness; having accomplished his purpose and enterprise. Do thou richly bestow thine inexhaustible grace upon his deeds and preserve the ship whole and unharmed. For thou are the Savior and Deliverer, and the rich giver of all good things, both spiritual and temporal, unto thee we ascribe glory: to the Father and to the Son. And to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
