Hi guys. After a couple months of lurking and finally getting to meet Eric and Susan, I thought I'd finally introduce myself. You know me as Paul Mossbarger, but I'll be Paul Moment soon. (Backstory: My wife Janece and I just had our first daughter -- Amira Lucia -- and decided that instead of hyphenating our long last names - Mossbarger and Clement - we would combine them into "Moment". You can see pics of my beautiful daughter and wife up at Amira's web site.)

I don't know any of you (except the Cepins) from Adam, but I'm humbled and honored to have been able to share in the life of your church and worship with my music. I hope to be able to share a bit more in your virtual conversations, too, and offer what I can as well as be challenged and taught by you. By way of visual introduction, I'm including an image of myself that I took recently for an interview that I did for an online newsletter that my friend's 9 year old daughter creates every week. (Note: The De La Soul t-shirt is a shameless pander to the hip-hop community in order to get their vote... :)

I'm (re)starting work on a new worship album that I started a couple of months ago before Amira was born. She's now almost 7 weeks old and Janece and I are finally settling into a sort of lopsided daily rhythm -- enough to being focusing on projects and work that we've been skating on. I intend to have all of the song material for it written by end of December, and I'll be sharing it with you all when I judge that it's ready enough.

Sorry for the short post, but I intend to participate more as time goes by. Congratulatons on your fourth anniversary -- having worked in new churches before, I know how significant the occasion is... :)

I appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for peeking in and for being a part of the community from far away. And thanks alot for your offerings of music and lyrics. Your recent song, 'Prayer of Thanks', makes me weep everytime we sing it because I realize how poorly I offer my hands back to God. I love that the music surges when we get to those lines which makes it more of a longing than a reality. At least that is how it feels to me. It makes me want to be better than I am.

I also love that there is a thread of grace that runs through songs like 'Isaiah 55'. I think grace is discovered in the cracks and is often part of the underweaving of our lives rather than sitting on top where it is easily seen and experienced. Your music tends to capture that for me.

I hope that you stay plugged in with us and that you wander down to Tucson sometime so we can meet you face to face. Probably Eric would like to just move all of us to Seattle but that is asking quite abit of the Village so we'll just hope that you can make it here someday.

Thanks again for connecting and we hope to continue to hear your voice.

Rod

Thanks, Rod. It's a unique and gratifying thing to be able to participate in someone's worship life like that, even if I've never met you. That's why I want to connect with y'alls through this site. I'm not currently attending any church, and I've found that's made writing a worship album much harder because I don't have a context for what I'm doing. So, I'm starting to work on plugging in where I can, and I liked what I saw in Eric and Sue and the feel of what you guys have created, so it's a no-brainer for me to be here and re-connect with the root of what the music is for.

About Prayer Of Thanks: For the record, all of my best lyric "writing" is just creative plagarism. That song is directly adapted from the Book Of Common Prayer, and a lot of my other stuff is just reworking Scripture authors to be more musical. For lyrics that are rich, meaningful and nuanced, it's just less taxing for my tiny brain to go to the source... :) I think my voice mostly shows up in creating the music and crafting the writing for singing. But, I'll let you know when I write something as good as Psalm 22. (Is it too late to get something canonized...?)

Hi there Paul,
It's great to meet you! I've enjoyed your music and feel you are a friend even while I've not met you personally.
Congratulations on your baby girl!
I join Rod in the invitation to you all in coming for a visit sometime. That would be a real treat.
Welcome to our website and I hope to hear more from you as time goes on.
Krysti
