Me by Derek Hugen, 1-15-04, dedicated to my favorite foods I am not me. I am coffee, buffalo wings, or tabasco sauce. I am all like beatnik and weird. I am sometimes me. I am usually unconscious of me or forgetful of what I mean. I am a typewriter. I am all bouncy bouncy bouncy. I am blue and yellow and red. I am primary or secondary. I am tertiary or dumb. I am coffee, buffalo wings, or tabasco sauce. I am broken record. I am phone directories stacked against a bookcase. I am me. I am a burning man and reluctant. I am flames shooting into the ice. I am historical fiction written by an author I don't like. I am bad music. I am poems I don't want to write. I am phrased in the form of a question. I am star-gazing suns. I am a piano learning scales. I am me. I am a light which flickers blindly and happily in the corner. I am dizzy like gillespie. I am lightnin' like hopkins. I am purple like barney. I am hail like greetings and rain. I am silent like motion. I am a trenchcoat bowing politely in the mud. I am climbing to the top of the roof for no real reason. I am light in darkness. I am jumping jacks in a game of cribbage. I am a hammer being beaten by horseshoes. I am all like beatnik and weird. I am coffee, buffalo wings, or tabasco sauce all bouncy bouncy bouncy. I am like me. But not me. (Though my point remains).
